Installation of ventilated façade in a single-family home with the Basic Slim system

23-01-2025

At CELO Façades, we are delighted to share the progress of one of our most recent projects: the installation of a ventilated façade on a single-family home designed by the renowned architect Silvia Soler . This project, commissioned by a private client, stands out for its innovative design and high-quality materials.

Current status of works

The project, which began in January 2025, is progressing according to schedule. We are currently in the vertical profile installation phase , an essential step to ensure the system's stability and precision.

The complete installation of the facade of this private house is estimated to be finished in April 2025, at which time this spectacular two-story house will show off its large format porcelain ceramic cladding (150×75 cm).

The architectural design includes an elegant orthogonal section with continuous joints, highlighting a protruding volume on the first floor. This detail is distinguished by a sophisticated change of colour in the ceramics, which adds dynamism and character to the whole house.

System used: Basic Slim

For this project, we selected the Basic Slim ventilated facade system, known for its precision and quality. This chemical system includes:

  • T profiles in vertical joints.
  • L profiles in the extremes.
  • J profiles to solve corners and jambs.

Since the ceramic tiles exceed the standard width, we've incorporated intermediate L-profiles to ensure a perfect fit. Additionally, we use SOS clips to temporarily hold the tiles in place until the structural adhesive reaches its final strength, guaranteeing a secure and long-lasting installation.

Technical challenges and implemented solutions

Installing facades for houses like this is not without its challenges. In this case, we have faced and solved the following challenges:

  1. Adjustment of measures:During the construction, we detected discrepancies between the actual dimensions of the ceramic pieces and the initial commercial measurements. This problem was resolved through agile coordination with Silvia Soler Arquitecta, ensuring that the original design remained intact.
  2. Cantilever of the vertical profile on terraces: In areas where the vertical profile exceeded the structural support, we reinforced the installation with plates welded to the main structure, guaranteeing the stability of the system.

Next steps in the installation

With the vertical profiles almost complete, we prepare for the installation of the ceramic pieces. This process will follow the detailed design of the project, taking care of every detail to achieve an impeccable finish.
