Progress in CE Marking for Innovative Construction Products and Systems: 26 new European Assessment Documents (EADs) have recently been published, enabling CE marking for innovative new construction products and systems . On 17 January 2024, Decision (EU) 2024/237 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU), introducing these new European Assessment Documents (EADs), the full list of which can be found here. This latest batch of EADs adds to the 382 EADs previously published under the current Construction Products Regulation in the OJEU, bringing the total to 408 published EADs for a wide range of innovative or non-standard construction products and systems. EADs are documents developed by the EOTA (European Organisation for Technical Assessment), which serve as the basis for issuing European Technical Assessments (ETAs ) and subsequently obtaining CE marking for innovative or non-standard construction products and systems. All EADs mentioned in the OJEU are available for download here. This latest publication of 26 EADs includes a wide variety of innovative products and new applications, fulfilling manufacturers' need to certify their new products and functionalities. This comes in the context of the construction sector's new challenges regarding mitigating environmental impacts, industrializing solutions, and optimizing product performance. In particular, we highlight three EADs within the line of industrialized façade solutions, in whose development and coordination ITeC has played a significant role. These are:

  • EAD 090062-01-0404: Kits for mechanically attached exterior façade cladding (replaces existing EAD 090062-00-0404).
  • EAD 090097-00-0404: Kits for exterior façade coverings adhered to the substructure.
  • EAD 090125-00-0404: Kits for exterior façade coverings with rigid multilayer composite panels.

These EADs cover a wide range of discontinuous façade cladding kits, considering various types and materials of cladding panels, fixing systems, and substructures. The ITeC has coordinated the development of these three EADs in parallel with the EOTA to ensure a comprehensive and consistent assessment for all façade cladding typologies considered.
