IS YOUR FACADE PREPARED FOR WINTER?

20-09-2016

The façade, together with the roof or roof of the buildings, is the part most affected by bad weather (rain, hail, UV rays, snow, cold, wind, etc.). If a façade shows wear, cracks or other types of erosion, we must seriously think about rehabilitating it. since it will help us avoid getting cold inside and also save on bills. If it gets cold in our house, we will have to set the hot air or heating devices to a higher temperature, which will increase our energy bill and we will also not be making efficient consumption.

How to check the status of our facade

Cracks

The first thing we should look at are the cracks. Many of them are produced by the typical humidity of rain. These cracks must be repaired and to do this we will have to clean them, remove loose parts or grit, fill the gaps with a special putty and paint it. If the cracks are too large, it is best to contact a professional to help us repair them.

Humidity and paint

If the paint is very deteriorated, we must paint the facade again. In this way, we will not only be able to improve the aesthetic appearance of the facade but we will also improve the thermal insulation. Before painting, we must check the humidity. If there are stains due to humidity, they will have to be repaired using special anti-humidity paints. Once we have covered the humidity well, we can now paint the façade.

How ventilated facades work in winter

As we have told you on many occasions, one of the most effective solutions is ventilated facades. Its operation adapts to external temperatures. During winter, ventilated facades provide thermal stability since they act as a heat accumulator helped by the thermal insulating layer of the system. In this way they prevent the escape of heat from the interior with its corresponding energy savings.
In the event of rain, the ventilated facades work as a river partition. This is achieved through the coating that allows only a maximum of 5% of rainwater to pass through the joints and through the effect of the wind.

Rehabilitation aids

In many autonomous communities there are aid and subsidies for the rehabilitation of facades. To know if we meet the requirements, we must inform ourselves through the citizen service offices.
